I have found a 46″ Toshiba LCD TV 46XV540U (1080i/p, 1920 x 1080, 10-Bit LCD Panel, Video Scan Rate: ClearFrame 120Hz 5:5 Pulldown Option) for US$1200 + tax (This has 3 years warranty included) in a Houston store. Is this a good TV?

I am looking at buying between a 40 to 50 inch wide screen flat panel television and would like to know the following differences between plasma and LCD:
-cost
-performance (longevity, clarity, gaming hook ups)
-track records (proven to last)
-weight (will it be able to hang on the wall with out major damage)
-best brands for plasma and LCD
-stores with the best deals
-do you recommend getting the extended warranty
-do you recommend getting the set up (I think it is a rip but want to know how easy each of them are to set up and hang on the wall)
-best for gaming.
I will be using this TV for gaming and watching sports and am looking for something that will show the details. I also would like something that would last longer since I will be spending a lot of money on it. Thanks in advance for all the help.

I heard that 1080p produces the best quality, but I heard you cant tell the difference depending on the size of the TV’s? For example if you had a 50 inch 1080 HD tv, would it look the same on a 720 32 inch TV? I cant wait to play my 360 games in HD when i get home! lol, just curious what the big diff is
ok, but i went from an old 19 inch SD tv, am i in for a new experience with my 32 in. HD 720 for my xbox 360?

I have a 42 inch LCD samsung tv flat no back…on a swivel stand…Looks good. Well i went to a friends they had a 50 inch DLP samsung with a back on it but not a huge back…and it actually had me thinking it looked better…i dont know if it was the size mine being 42 and his 50…or mine being LCD and his DLP…i compared playing the ps3 on both and his seemd to look better to me. So is it size or is dlp better than lcd…both were 1080i tvs.
And if you can suggest a good tv.size(probably 50inch),,.brand,style,1080i or 1080p…this will be for my living room to watch blu rays, tv, and play games but games only sometimes

No need to suggest DLP or LCD, I’ve already done my research and made up my mind. Thanks for the help!

I have a 50 inch LCD High Definition Sony Grand Wega (silver one) and now I have noticed pink marks or “stains” on the screen. I observe them when the picture shows light colors such as yellow, white, light blue, etc. Its a relatively new TV.
