Alright, I had a 27inch regular tv by sharp, and it works for my living room. So I figure, maybe I should get a 37 inch TV, then for a $100 more I can get a 42 inch tv. So what the heck right? However, after viewing the 42 inches, they dont look as big as you may think. This of course is when they are displayed around several other tvs, but I got to thinkin is a 42 inch big enough for a living room? Its going into my basement, but its designed like a living room. Also, this Plasma has anti burn in tech, and is a 2008 model, not like the 2003 models or anything. It also has a white wash feature, to clear potential burn in pics. My main point though, is a 42 inch to small for a living room type setting. Normally I woulda said heck no, it would be big, but it just seems these widescreens are not as big looking as CRTs. I can upgrade to a 50 inch Samsung for $200.00 more, but for plasma I am getting a Panasonic( which in plasma world is better quality, like LCD for sharp ), and I could save the $200.00…lol.

the best kind out there ? i want at least 40-50 inch at a good price under 1,000 .looking at these $648.00

I want to buy a good wide screen flat panel TV. Can’t decide between plasma, LCD or DLP projection. Angle of viewing is important to me. I hate TV’s that you can’t see the picture if you’re standing off to one side. Should I get 720 resolution, or hold out for 1080? Is an HDMI input important? If so, how many should there be? I want either a 46 or 50 inch model.

I’m shopping for a Tv to go in my living room. Me my wife and son just moved in to the house. We went to best buy and circuit city and looked around…The Lcd’s were expensive but looked nice…the Dlp’s looked nice also and seemed like you could get a bigger screen for less than a lcd….
I couldnt choose…because i want a good tv…pretty nice size…but one that will last…and not go out of style or tear up and cant be fixed…
I wont be hanging it or wall mounting it…it will go on a stand…we dont play video games..but do watch alot of dvds…and tv…The only advice i got was buy a 1080p with built in hd…i want to spend under 3000…around 2,500 give or take a few $$$…i almost would go with dlp..since im not mounting it and i want at least a 50 inch screen..does the dlp picture look almost or the same as lcd with blu ray..or normal dvd…and tv…and will it last?…any info is appreciated alot..THANKS

This is a Very Different Install for me.
I’ve done many HDTV Wall-Mounts, but this ones a little crazy.

A Neighbor wants his 50″ Plasma mounted Above his Brick Fireplace.
That’s mounting it on the Brick above his Mantle.

I’ve done a few LCD’s above Fireplaces, mostly on a Wall above the Mantle. And the Largest was a 47″ LCD, that weighted Maybe 70 lbs. (And Yes, that was onto a Wall above the Fireplace, not Brick)

I’ve never Installed a Plasma onto a Brick Fireplace before, as Most people want LCD’s that are smaller and much Lighter installed in that type of Location.

The 50-inch Size is One thing to have Installed above a Fireplace. But it’s the Weight-Limit that Concerns me. Plasma’s are Obviously heavier, and I’ve never Installed one onto a Brick-Wall, or Fireplace.

I guess I am weary about Installing that kind of Weight onto a Brick Wall. The Bushing-Adapters have to Hold, and even if I used 6 of them, who’s to Say if they will Hold into the Brick’s permanently.
I’d hate to have them call me up down the road, and tell me there Plasma fell-off their Fireplace.
That would be like Hell for me to deal with. And that could cost me Both a 50″ Plasma HDTV & my Reputation.

I know the Brick can hold Allot of Weight, but the Screws & Adapters have to stay-in the Brick.
It’s always the Top Screws that hold all the Weight, the Bottoms ones just keep it Stable.

A 100 lb Plasma above a Brick Fireplace is just unheard of to me. An LCD of that Size would be more Realistic, but even 50″ is a little Big.

I’ve done a 42″ LCD once on a Brick Wall, but that was SO much Lighter! :^P

If I could get some Input from People that have Done this sort of Thing on a Brick Wall, PLEASE let me know!!!!

Also which would you choose 50 inch plasma or 60 inch DLP? Both are pretty much the same price. I don’t care for LCD by te way. I’m not sure what DLP is so I’m leaning toward plasma.

It seems so i have a 37 inch toshiba crt tv that runs great no motion lag great color! The only downside is less resolution and no pc hookup option. My tv is worth 20 dollars a nice new lcd 50 incs is worth 2,200 is is just me or will these tv cost 1800 dollars less in a couple of years?

I have a 42 inch lcd tv and im looking to put in two of those tall speakers that stand on the floor. Does anyone know what is a reall good deal for them, im only looking for 2 floor speakers not the set of 5. I am looking to spend up to 50 dollars only since money is short
