I am looking at buying between a 40 to 50 inch wide screen flat panel television and would like to know the following differences between plasma and LCD:
-cost
-performance (longevity, clarity, gaming hook ups)
-track records (proven to last)
-weight (will it be able to hang on the wall with out major damage)
-best brands for plasma and LCD
-stores with the best deals
-do you recommend getting the extended warranty
-do you recommend getting the set up (I think it is a rip but want to know how easy each of them are to set up and hang on the wall)
-best for gaming.
I will be using this TV for gaming and watching sports and am looking for something that will show the details. I also would like something that would last longer since I will be spending a lot of money on it. Thanks in advance for all the help.
I am planning on buy a tv. I decided which one i want from plasma and LCD. I am going with LCD. When i went on panasonic.com. They have two options. Flat panel and LCD ( both HDTVs). Technology wise which is better flat panel or LCD? Also how come LCD does not have more then 50 inch? Is it just panasonic that doesnt make?

Again I am looking for top brands only,.. most likely a Sony Bravia. I’ve been doing some research and I think I like that one the best.
a 50 inch LCD on a wall mount. What is the best height for watching from a sitting position, angles to the sides, standing etc.
It is on a mount that rotates side to side and tilts up and down, but I don’t want to rely on that for anything other then fine tuning the angles for the best picture.

Sound and picture still display normally, but on the side of the screen there’s fading blue hue and redish pink in the center of the screen. It’s always there no matter which video input mode…what could be the problem? How much would it cost to fix? It’s a Hitachi and I bought it in July of 2004
