The only thing I know for sure is I’m going with a 50 inch. See I could go with an LCD/1080 but is a PLASMA/720 just as good? Please help me decide Plasma or LCD , resolution (1080 or 720) and model Panasonic or Samsung. Feel free to put your reasoning in there. 10 points to the TV I end up choosing. Thanks in advance for all your help.

I remember maybe two years ago walking by the Plasma tvs and seeing out of this world prices, 5,000 and up. I went to circuit city today and I couldnt believe my eyes, WOW! 50 Inch Plasma tvs for 2,000! 42 inch Plasma tvs for 1299! What caused this dramatic price drop in two years? And is the quality improving or is it the same?

We just had our LCD HDTV installed yesterday. It’s a Samsung 40 inch. The HD channels look great. The non HD channels look good too but are a little blurry when up close to the TV. Will increasing the sharpness level make the picture more clear or is it the opposite? It was set up at 25% I increased it to 50% and I can’t really tell if it’s better or worse.
Thanks

I am looking to buy a new tv and need to know (without a comission chasing sales rep) what the difference is between the two types of tv.
The size is hopefully going to be around 46″ and up to 50″ (inches)
If that makes a difference.

I have about $3000 I’m willing to spend, no more. And I seen just about every tv and heard about every sales pitch I can take. Some told me that HDTV’s only come in two types, plasma’s or lcd’s. I heard not to buy a plasma, get an lcd, but at least 1080p. Then I saw an DLP with 1080p and another guy said that was better. Then I saw a Samsung 61 inch, 1080p lcd tv but it was a projection tv. What is and projection tv? Then a guy told me to stay away from projection tv’s…. Someone else was explaining what to look for if I wanted to hook my tv up to my computer !! Can someone please help me? I’m more confused now than before I went to the store. I don’t know what I want? I guess I want the best HDTV i can get for about 3000 dollars. I don’t care if it’s 720 or 1080p, lcd or dlp or scdtv i saw too. Plasma or projection. Can someone help me figure out this madness? Or at least recommend some good name brands or key words to look for? For an HDTV, at least 50 inches or better. THANKS……

Its time to reward myself for christmas. Im looking to spend less than 3k and want at least 50-61 inch. Whats the best out there in terms of hdtv? Samsung, DLP or Plasma.

it doesnt matter if its LCD or Plasma… I saw one of wal-marts deals and they had a 50 inch plasma hdtv 1080p for 798… can anyone find one like this or lower?

DVDS played on LCD HDTV questions 10 points!?

im trying to figure this out… my friend played a movie on his 50 inch LCD tv and it looked like crap. i just bought a 42inch dynex HD LCD TV, and was wondering if full screen only DVDS will look like crap. i did some investigating on why this might happen and came to 1 answer. the dvd wasnt Widescreen

I Need To Know :

is it true Full screen dvds(which only play in 4:3 ratio, which is the tube television ratio) appear to look worse on HD TV’s.

is it true Widescreen dvds are to be used with both tvs because it has a 16:9 ration and appears to be a box on a tube tv, and cover the whole screen on a LCD 42 inch HDTV

will a widescreen version of a movie cover the full screen/ not look blurry on a LCD HDTv, whereas a Full screen only dvd will appear extremely blurry on an HDTV, but not a Tube TV?

if HD TV allow to be only used with Widescreen dvds for best picture, because a full screen dvd will look blurry

Is an HDTV interchangeable to get the best picture out of a full screen and widescreen version of movie if i play with settings?

if im wrong on anything please clear ths up for me, i cant test TV out due to i need to wait for christmas to give to family. i dont want to be out 600 bucks ya know?

Because we found a 50 inch plasma Samsung it’s a new model because it’s sale or what it’s $1333 but we also found 50 inch samsung LCD which is almost twice the price so what’s the difference? and I am planning my Playstation 3 to connect to it by 1080p those two tv support it but we are still wondering us me and my parents if Ps3 would be look awful in a Plasma than LCd cause it’s cheaper or it’s just the same?

Is it possible that a TV stand that says it can hold upto a 50″ LCD or plasma TV and 135 lbs, actually hold a 52-inch HDTV?
