a 50 inch LCD on a wall mount. What is the best height for watching from a sitting position, angles to the sides, standing etc.
It is on a mount that rotates side to side and tilts up and down, but I don’t want to rely on that for anything other then fine tuning the angles for the best picture.

Making Sacrifices For High Definition TV

When I graduated from college and decided to move to the big apple, I knew that money was going to be tight. I managed to undertake an apartment for much less than I had expected but I still knew I needed money for bills and other necessary items.
I have a neat job but it doesn’t pay enough money to support me with much disposable income. So I needed to gain ways to cut corners anyway thinkable. I started to visit garage sales to ascertain any miscellaneous items for decorating my apartment.
I also searched through clearance bins and collected as many coupons as I could for department stores. I was quickly discovery things that are my style and saving oodles of cash. Another important part of my living status is recreation.
I am not big on music, but I am big on watching television. I knew I had to invest in a good television if I invested in anything. I was even willing to eat tuna every night for a month so I could gather up enough cash for an HDTV. I am not a typical early 22 year old who just places everything I can’t afford on a credit card.
Instead, I will make sacrifices so I can pay for what I need with cash. After I saved enough money, I called the cable provider to see how much per month I would have to pay to have HD service. The cable company said that it would be virtually $15 more a month.
I budgeted it into my financial situation and left the apartment to get my first HDTV. When I arrived at the electronics store, all of the HDTVs overwhelmed me. I knew I didn’t want a gigantic tv but I desired one that was big enough.
While I was browsing, I couldn’t believe the HD pictures on the televisions. They were so sharp and I could hardly wait to get it in my apartment so I could watch my most favorite shows in HD. I decided on a 42 inch because it seemed to be large enough for my needs.
It looks tremendous against my picture window. I was even able to organise my furnishings perfectly around it so when all my buddies come to visit everyone can see what I have on. I am even planning a party for all of my family and friends. The important feature will be some great taco’s and a film on my big screen.

High Definition TV Resolutions: The Basics

What makes High Definition TV so great? Most HDTV watchers would tell you that it’s simple: higher resolution. That’s what sets HDTV apart from regular TV. Regular television, or “standard definition” as it’s also called, shows up to 480 pixels per line. It looks good if you’ve never experienced HDTV’s higher resolution. With HDTV, the resolution depends on the source. There are two main source resolutions used in HDTV: 1080i and 720p. 1080i 1080i has a resolution of 1,920 by 1,080 pixels. This is a major improvement over standard definition television. CBS, NBC, Discovery Channel’s HD broadcasts, PBS and the Xbox 360 all use this resolution. Of course, you can watch these stations on a lower resolution TV set, but if you have a 1080i set, you’ll get the better resolution. Also, 1080i is in a widescreen format. This is another great feature of HDTV. 720p 720p has a lower resolution. It’s 1,280 by 720 pixels. Even though it has a lower resolution than 1080i, the difference is not as noticeable as the difference between either one and a standard definition TV. 720p also has the widescreen format. ABC, Fox and ESPN’s HD broadcasts all use this resolution. 720p’s resolution is lower, but it has a feature called “progressive scan” that 1080i doesn’t. Progressive scan makes the movement on screen more fluid and realistic. Progressive scan makes the image move more smoothly. 480p There is also a 480p format, which Fox uses for its digital broadcasts, but it’s technically not HDTV, although it can be viewed on HDTV’s. It’s 852 by 480 pixels, widescreen and has progressive scan. Fox is the only network that uses this resolution, but some DVD players use it because of the smoother movement of progressive scan. 1080p There is a newer format called 1080p which has the high resolution of the 1080i with the progressive scan of the 720p, but no network uses it yet. It’s mostly a resolution format that some HDTV’s are made in. According to reviews, 1080p isn’t very much different than 1080i. Unless you have a large TV, like something over 46 inches, there’s no noticeable difference. The 1080p might be good for serious HDTV nuts. It does enable manufacturers to add special features, like increased contrast or better color. Unless you have a really good eye, you might not notice these differences, though. And, the 1080p sets usually cost quite a bit more than the others. In the next few years, there will probably be more reasonably priced 1080p sets. It’s expected that more networks will begin taking advantage of 1080p’s resolution and possibilities and begin broadcasting in 1080p. If this happens, 1080p sets may become a better buy.

Friends Turn Me On To High Definition

The Office is my all time favourite tv show at the present and I was so upset when it was temporarily cancelled due to the writer’s strike. I understand that everyone wants more money but what about what the people crave?
Anyway, I heard the strike is over and the writers are coming back to production. This means that the tv show will be returning on air in Apr and I couldn’t be any more happier. I am not only joyful the sitcom is returning but I also have a pleasant new HDTV that I cannot wait to try out on The Office.
A couple weeks ago, my tiny old 19 inch gave out and I knew it was time to take a bound into the 21st century by purchasing a shiny new HDTV. All of my friends have been on my case trying to get me to buy a newer television but I never saw the need for it since my 19 inch was perfectly peachy enough for my taste.
Since I had to buy the new television, I decided on the HDTV as my friends suggested. Seemingly, I didn’t investigate it good enough because I didn’t know that in order to get HDTV channels I would have to pay my
cable provider Co. more money a month!
As if I do not pay enough money as it is and now after forking out a grand on the television, I will have to
pay even more per month. Instead of just succumbing to the realisation that I would just have to deal with paying for it,
I went online to see if there was a way around it. I am so pleased I did because I found antennas that will receive the signals I acquire from my cable Co. . I was startled to see the antennas were not a ton of money so I purchased one.
Anyway, I am looking forward to watching The Office on my new television. Maybe Jim and Pam will get married, probably not. Whom I love the best is Michael on the show because he reminds me so much of my old supervisor.
It’s awesome how several of things that proceed out of his pie hole sounds a lot like something he would say. Not only that, a lot of the stuff he says is such a surprise that you just can’t help but laugh.
Now that I have a new television to watch and many new shows starting up, I just know that it’s going to be the best TV watching experience I have had in a rattling long time.

An excellent question. I’m sure many people ask themselves why they should switch to this new jack for their high definition televisions or disc players all the time. To boil it down to one word, think “digital. ”HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) is a next generation jack that sends fully uncompressed audio and video signals from your source equipment (such as a Blu-Ray disc player, a DVD player, or your amplifier) to your high definition television. Instead of jacks like component video (those Red/Green/Blue connectors we are all familiar with) or DVI, HDMI uses just one small jack to handle it all; you don’t have to hook up any additional audio connectors to put together your picture and sound package. How does purchasing all of this new and baffling equipment affect you? It means that, rather than purchasing a whole bunch of jacks to put it all together, you can use just one single jack to connect your HDMI equipped source (such as Blu-ray disc player, gaming equipment like Xbox 360 and Wii, high definition cable or satellite box, or that brand new A/V surround sound receiver you just purchased) and your high definition television. I don’t know how much easier it could get. You will get brilliant picture quality at a maximum of 1080p, and you will hear an original distinct surrounding audio sound. Well some people will state, “The component video cable setup I have now appears to be alright and sounds good with my new HDTV. ” In many ways this is the truth. But your typical component video cable is simply unable to connect a Blu-ray player to your high definition television and provide the quality and clarity the high definition has to offer. For televisions that are bigger than 50 inches, adapting Blu-ray and using 1080p is similar to washing the windows on your house or car. Okay, so you can look out just as they are normally, but when they have been thoroughly cleaned, it’s as if they don’t exist. Here’s an illustration of why you should adapt to HDMI. Grab a movie like “I, Robot”, one on a regular DVD and one on the new Blu-ray. Join your new Blu-ray player together with HDMI and also component video in turn. Then watch the movie as a normal DVD. It will have a high quality appearance and a wonderful sound. Now watch the movie again with an HDMI cable and the Blu-ray disk; make sure your player is set to 1080p, just like your new high definition TV, and check that your surround receiver is able to use the latest audio formats like DTS-HD 5. 1 Master Audio. The change is amazing. While the video is markedly better, almost like in-home 3-D, it’s the master audio soundtrack that makes you really feel like you are at the filming. The fantastic reflection and sound are a real testimony to the reason you desire to have HDMI connections along with your new HDTV gear. An additional purpose to use HDMI is your new A/V digital surround device. HDMI delivers both Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio tracks. This provides quality your Toslink optical and coaxial digital cables can’t match, and it’s an incredible improvement from the usual surround track provided by DVD. Now, not only does it let things scan around your 5. 1 or 7. 1 theater, it does it in a much more controlled manner that immerses the viewer in the action on the screen. You can see a huge contrast right from the get-go. So, it should be fairly obvious that, if it is available to you, HDMI can make connecting your equipment easy. It also can get rid of the tangle of wires that’s lurking behind your equipment, providing you with an unequaled picture and sound experience for your new 1080p television and Blu-ray disc player without the hassle.

As a home theater installer, Vic Metten uses only HDMI cables for HDTVs with Blu-ray disk players, because DVI cables and component cables don?t have the range of sound and picture that a single Component cable can give. So, for DVI to HDMI converters or an HDMI adapter, he finds a way to give people the best audio and visual quality he can.
