42 inch Plasma, too small for Living room?

Alright, I had a 27inch regular tv by sharp, and it works for my living room. So I figure, maybe I should get a 37 inch TV, then for a $100 more I can get a 42 inch tv. So what the heck right? However, after viewing the 42 inches, they dont look as big as you may think. This of course is when they are displayed around several other tvs, but I got to thinkin is a 42 inch big enough for a living room? Its going into my basement, but its designed like a living room. Also, this Plasma has anti burn in tech, and is a 2008 model, not like the 2003 models or anything. It also has a white wash feature, to clear potential burn in pics. My main point though, is a 42 inch to small for a living room type setting. Normally I woulda said heck no, it would be big, but it just seems these widescreens are not as big looking as CRTs. I can upgrade to a 50 inch Samsung for $200.00 more, but for plasma I am getting a Panasonic( which in plasma world is better quality, like LCD for sharp ), and I could save the $200.00…lol.

LCD fifty inch TV question?

I’m putting this 50″ TV on my wall in the living room. I bought the bracket. I’m wondering how high I should put the TV on the wall.

ok so ofcourse i just bought the 32′ 720p samsung lcd that was on sale at walmart for black friday! ok so this is the screwy part..i figured the tv would fit in my entertainment center but its actually too big and i just thought about buying another one and then i was like fuk no thats going to cost to much and i dont want a stand either so ive came to the conclusion that im just going to mount it to the wall! the only problem with that is i dont know what kind of wall mount to buy…i just looked on walmart.com and there were like 50 different kinds and im like wat the fuck they all do the same thing so how is it one can be 12$ and another can be 150$????please help me to understand….im trying to be cheap..i want to get a good one but i dont want it to be outrageously high! so what r u guys opinions?

and about 50 hertz and 100 hertz,, does it really matters?? or they just want to come out with something new??

ps3 on a 50 inch plasma vizio?

will it make the tv go bad? i heard ur only supposed to play on lcd’s

what do you recommend? in 50 inch plasma?

ive gone through 2 50-inch samsung plasmas in the last 4-5 years

my insurance is gonna pay for the new one through best buy and the insurance guy says i do not have to say with samsung.

please recommend one for me pros and cons

the reason i like plasmas over LCDs are the very wide viewing angle and better black levels

i know nothing about OLEDs also i hear 3-D TV is also coming out.

thanks in advance to all replies
The previous 2 plasmas that i had were samsung plasmas.

they are terrible messed up blacks

lots of solarization

and they both broke

the first one would changed its color setting at ramdom and had a bunch of dead pixals all over the screen.

the screen on the one i have would turn off randomly

the sound would still work but the screen shut off for minutes to hours at a time.

pleaes do not reccomend an other samsung

thanks

k.

it doesnt matter if its LCD or Plasma… I saw one of wal-marts deals and they had a 50 inch plasma hdtv 1080p for 798… can anyone find one like this or lower?

(You may need to open the link in a different tab, it wouldn’t let me go to my previous page when I used it)

So I’ve been thinking of getting this TV, mainly because it seems like a good deal, I was wanting to know about its life. I work and will be going back to school soon, so I probably wouldn’t be using it as much as others would, how long would its life be in this situation? Also, would the lower price mean lower quality and life, and would there be more pros than cons of getting an LCD over this? Would anyone have any better 50 inch TVs to recommend?
Sorry, I guess the link doesn’t work, here’s another link. The TV is $799.99 by the way.

I’m putting it in a wall in a bathroom behind 2-way mirrored glass. The receiver’s volume will be dependent upon the TV’s volume (so I only have to use 1 remote control for the tv volume). The receiver is a Niles Audio TVA-50.

The line output has to be variable.
