Pioneer PDP-5010FD Review

A couple of months ago our old 36″ TV started working when it felt like it and the sharpness of the picture wasn’t what it once was. In the old-days, and I’m going back a long way here, you would bash the TV on the side to get it to work. Unfortunately, those days of quick home fixes for electronics have passed, so it was time to look for a new television. There’s a bewildering selection to choose from nowadays. So many different make and models. Even different technologies to consider. With a lot of research on the internet and talking to a couple of friends who had recently upgraded, we decided on a plasma TV. I watch a lot of sports and there’s often a noticeable hesitation with LCD models. My wife insisted on something larger and I somewhat reluctantly agreed to a 48″ or 50″ model. I did have some reservations, since our family room isn’t that large, but, as is often the case, she was right and it turned out to be the perfect size. We agreed on the Pioneer KURO PDP-5010FD 50-Inch 1080p Plasma HDTV, so, here is my Pioneer PDP-5010FD Review. This model features a very bright and clear 50-inch screen and a 16:9 aspect ratio widescreen. The PDP-5010FD is a native 1080p display, which means that it has full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, the highest standard currently available. But enough of the technical specifications, how was the picture? As I mentioned earlier, I did a lot of research, both online and in local stores, before deciding on this particular set. It wasn’t the lowest cost model but in my opinion it was well worth the extra cost. All of the reviews were insistent that the KURO models are the best televisions made. These reviewers probably know a lot more about televisions than I will ever know, but I can say without hesitation that I am amazed at the fantastic picture quality and fabulous contrast this set produces. Read my full Pioneer PDP-5010FD Review for full specifications and learn where I found mine well under half of list price.

  • If you want to enjoy high-definition programming in all its splendor, your TV must have a minimum native resolution of 720p. The p stands for progressive, which means that all the pixel rows are shown at once, instead of half at a time like interlaced. Pioneer PureVision plasmas actually exceed high-definition standards with 768p native resolution.
  • ACE II (Advanced Continuous Emission II) uses 10-bit processing to produce 1,024 gradation steps for each cell creating a palette of over 1.07 billion colors and delivering reproduction accuracy up to 16 times greater than most other plasma TV panels
  • Pioneer’s new Advanced PureCinema with 3-3 pulldown, film-based material on DVD, videotape, and even regular TV will match the smooth, natural reproduction you’d see in a theater
  • Full High Definition Resolution Wide WXGA Resolution (1280 x 768p)

Pioneer HDTV Reviews: A Thing Of the Past

Everyone wants the best they can get. Pioneer Plasma HDTVs were the best in the business. But unfortunately, Pioneer has closed down all its operations relating to HDTVs. Although Pioneer HDTV reviews provided the best information about the Pioneer TVs, they will no longer be required as the company closes down. The Kuro line of Plasma HDTVs from Pioneer was among the highly ranked in the world. Although quality also meant a hike in prices, this was the very reason which led to the closure of Pioneer operations. There will no longer be Pioneer TV reviews to read as there will be a stop in production. Why Pioneer Stopped Production A statement from the authorities in Pioneer suggests that Pioneer was more interested in expanding their business in car navigation, electronics and audio A/V products. Although this has remained the mainstay of Pioneer, yet its Plasma TVs were very good. The Plasma TVs have set new standards. Any new product will surely be compared with the Kuro line. The Pioneer HDTV reviews were a testimony of the class of Pioneer TVs. But being very expensive has led to the undoing of Pioneer TVs. The closing down of the Pioneer TVs has created a flutter among the people who already own a Pioneer TV. They are afraid that if anything goes wrong with the TVs, there will be no one to turn to. But the Pioneer administration has put all fears to rest. You can continue to get good service from the company. A Change in Trends With heavy influx of cheaper HDTVs from other manufacturers who provide state-of-the-art technologies for their products, Pioneer has suffered a setback. But it seems like yesterday when Pioneer HDTV reviews fetched great ratings and the TVs won many awards. But with the entry of LEDs and OLEDs, Pioneer HDTVs seem to be taking a backseat and hence the decision to quit. A thorough perusal of the Pioneer TV reviews will give you a good idea about why Pioneer HDTVs are ranked among the best in the world. Pioneer TVs are the Best In The World Among the many models, the KRP-500A is among the best. This 50-inch HDTV is an unbelievably 64mm thick and look like a piece of art on your wall. Pioneer HDTV reviews will tell you that with just one cable and a separate media unit, the connectivity options are improved. Yet it maintains its good looks. The contrast ratio and black levels surpass imagination. They are the true reference panels for comparing other TVs. It is truly sad that the world will lose such good quality.
